The Exosignal Hair protocol — a 12-week scalp course that holds up at consultation

6 min read

Hair-loss consultations live or die on expectation-setting. The patient has read about exosomes, seen before/afters that may or may not be honest, and arrives wanting one thing: a number and a timeline. The Exosignal Hair line gives you both — a serum and a scalp spray designed to run as a single 12-week course — but only if you present it as a protocol, not a product.

Open on Mitoscan, every time

Before the first application, capture a baseline with Mitoscan: HD imaging of the thinning zones, three lighting modes, freeze-frame saved to the chart. This is non-negotiable. A hair course without a week-0 image is a course you can only argue about subjectively at week 12. With it, you have a side-by-side that sells the next course on its own.

The 12-week cadence

  • Weeks 1–4: in-clinic application weekly. Microneedling-assisted delivery of the Exosignal serum at 0.5–0.8 mm on the scalp, immediately followed by the spray as the leave-on layer.
  • Weeks 5–8: every other week in-clinic; patient uses the take-home spray daily between visits.
  • Weeks 9–12: monthly in-clinic check; daily home spray continues.
  • Week 12: re-image on Mitoscan, compare to baseline, decide on a maintenance cadence (typically one session every 4–6 weeks).

What changes, and when

Tell the patient the truth about the timeline: weeks 1–4 are about reducing shedding, not regrowth — they may notice fewer hairs in the brush before they notice anything in the mirror. Visible density change is a weeks 8–12 story, and it photographs better than it feels. This is exactly why the baseline image matters: it converts a slow, hard-to-feel change into something undeniable.

Depth discipline on the scalp

Scalp delivery is shallower than facial work — 0.5–0.8 mm with MitoPen, enough to open channels for the serum without disturbing the follicle. Lock the depth on the dial ring at the start of the session and keep the handle moving in even passes. The spray is the seal: applied immediately after, it keeps the payload working between visits.

Who to turn away

Active scalp inflammation or infection, recent transplant within the healing window, and any of the standard microneedling contraindications. Exosignal is a density and scalp-health protocol, not a treatment for scarring alopecia — set that boundary at consultation.

A hair course without a baseline image isn't a protocol. It's a hope.
